The metaphysical properties of this colour

Red colour properties

In this series of posts on the properties of colour I have included an overview of the metaphysical properties and information on some colours and the chakras that they relate to.  I have also included some lessons and affirmations.

Later, in a more in-depth series, I will build on the properties of these colours and how you can use them to your benefit.

Having studied the Aura Soma system of Colour Therapy to the Advanced Level I find the natural benefits of vibrations from colour intriguing and I’m always trying to find out more information on this subject.

For more information on Chakras and Colour Therapy please contact your local Colour Therapist

Red is the colour of energy, enthusiasm, passion, action and motion.  It is the colour that gives us the “get-up-and-go”, the strength, vitality and energy to make changes and mental re-evaluations needed in our lives.

It is beneficial for Earthing / Grounding us when we are feeling spacey or not quiet fully aware – a great trick that may work in this situation is to wear red socks.

Red is the colour of material matters and survival issues. The day to day challenges that we often meet in making a living and keeping a roof over our heads.

Courage and daring can be supported by this colour and it is a great colour to use in situations where you want to come across as an extrovert or being in power and control.

Red is often thought of as the colour of sacrificial love and Christ consciousness. It is the colour of awareness and awakening.

Red is also the colour of blood and may help in situations that require improved circulation. It can also be warming and useful for the treatment of chilblains and cramped muscles.

colour properties of red

The Lesson for Red

"Holding onto resentment"

An inability to deal with frustration and anger in a positive way.  Disappointment, lack of earthing and the need for grounding, can all be addressed through this colour.

Difficulties with material matters, feelings of separation and embarrassment are other lessons offered by Red.

Red can also be an issue with dominance, excessive competitiveness, extreme materialism and over indulgence.

Stop / danger are often indicated by red – think Red Back Spider – so if this colour is being shown to you often, stop and become aware of your actions or surroundings and see what you are in danger of doing / saying / being.

The need for Red

"To become a conscious being"

An affirmation suitable for this colour is

"I am now in my power".

Chakra and physical areas connected with Red are the Earth Star, Base/Root, Base of Spine, Large Intestine, Adrenal Glands, Legs, Feet, Rectum, Genitals.

Physically it is also associated with Blood / iron, the circulatory system, chilblains, cramped muscles, lethargy, sexual issues, the Kundalini energy, fight / flight response (adrenals).

It can be successfully used to stimulate under active conditions such as circulation, weakened muscles, impotence, frigidity, and bowel inactivity.

This colour connects with

China, Russia, Far East Himalayas & North American Indians (Sharman energy)

Crystals / gems

That may provide assistance with these issues

ruby colour properties of red

Suitable Crystals / gems (in their red form when possible) are Agate, Aventurine, Bloodstone, CarnelianFluoriteGarnetHematiteJasperOpalClear Quartz, Rose QuartzRhodonite, RubyStauroliteTourmalineZircon.

You may find wearing or using these and other red items provides assistance when dealing with any of these Red issues.

Clothing is another easy way to benefit from the energy of colour.  Red isn’t your favourite colour?  Use socks or underwear in this colour as a great way of reminding yourself that you are connected and have confidence – and no-one will know.

If that doesn’t suit you, how about red sheets (or just the pillowcase) or bathe in bath-salts in this gorgeous colour.

Drink a beetroot juice, eat a Strawberry.   All these things will just hold your attention and remind you that you are on a journey to reconnect.

Vision Statement

At MaxineFaye I believe in encouraging each person to
express themselves and celebrate their uniqueness.

Lets get to know each other!

Here's a bit about me.

The combinations of colour, texture and the “feel” of the beads are what inspire my original designs and as a beaded jewellery artisan I love working with colour and light,  The unique shapes and colour combinations of lamp-work and art-glass, the precision and sparkle of Swarovski crystal and the organic feel of semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, and metals ae all considered in my designs.

I’ll add some information on how to care for and clean your beaded jewellery and gemstones.  New collections will be showcased and you will be kept in the loop with upcoming events and awards

If you have any suggestions or requests, I would love to hear from you

Beaded Jewellery

Beaded Jewellery is a bit of an obsession

I took a course at a local Recreation Centre and was hooked immediately.  I have always been crafty and have dabbled in Folk Art, Macramé, Decoupage, Lead-lighting, Woodwork and many other forms or creativity.

But being able to design and create beautiful Jewellery with the colours and stones I love is amazing.

Seeing other people enjoying and wearing my designs is very exciting and I love receiving testimonials from my happy customers.

I have been honoured to win awards for my beadwork and enjoy the excitement of the challenge.  Using materials or techniques that I wouldn’t generally incorporate in my designs is stimulating.

Bespoke and commissioned work, repairs and remodelling of customers’ existing pieces and classes are other services I offer.  Contact me to arrange an appointment.

You can view (and hopefully purchase) my designs at Markets around Perth, Western Australia or from the Bibra Lake studio.

You may also receive free standard postage within Australia when you purchase online

Due to my attention to detail, adding extras like crimp covers and wire guardians, all my original designs come with a 12-month guarantee.

The Environment

Our environment is also a passion.

Much of my packaging is recycled.  Both to keep down the costs and to reduce waste.

Some of my designs use recycled or up-cycled materials.  This is always clearly indicated in the description of the piece.

Our house is set up as energy saving as we are able.  We have solar hot water, solar energy, water saving taps, toilet and shower and an inline water filter for the whole house. LED lighting, ceiling fans for both relief in summer and to keep the heat down during winter further reduce the running costs.

The garden follows a general permaculture / no dig practice. We harvest our own avocado, mango, citrus and other fruit and vegetables.

Vegetables and herbs which benefit from shade sit under some shrubs, while the heat loving plants find their spots on the edges of the gardens.  The garden isn’t always tidy, (who am I kidding – it is seldom tidy) but the bees and butterflies (and children) seem to enjoy it.

The chooks have yet to read the “no dig” agreement though!  They help dispose of the kitchen waste and reward us with eggs, so are generally forgiven.  When they stop laying, they enjoy their retirement foraging around the back yard.  We could never eat them.

Hubby has recently set up a flow-hive for the bees in the backyard so we are looking forward to harvesting our own honey.  He has also set up some native beehives in the front yard.  These aren’t for the honey, but to encourage them to stay in the garden to protect it from pests and to help pollinate the plants.

Family, Friends & Community

Friends, family and community are important to me.  My favourite way to spend an evening is with family and friends.
Throw in a bottle of wine and some cheese and I am over the moon.  Also, Bundy and chocolate wont be scoffed at.

I donate Gift Vouchers, Jewellery items and Class Certificates to Community Groups to assist with their fund-raising.  I also donate time and materials at Community events where I teach visitors (young and young-at-heart) to make their own beaded sun-catchers.

What's your passion/s?

Now you know about me. Tell me a bit about yourself.

Do you have a favourite hobby? Is there a cause you are ardent over?

I would love to know what things you enjoy.  What makes you want to leap out of bed in the morning?
