Crackle Glass was first invented by the Venetian Glass Makers in the 16th Century. During the glass making process glass is immersed into cold water whilst molten hot, thus cracking the glass. When reheated, the glass is moulded or shaped into the final shape which seals the cracks creating a smooth surface.
